Xylenol orange - the indicator used prikompleksonometricheskom titration.
Represents xylenol orange, reddish-brown crystals, soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol, acetone and diethyl ether. It is synthesized by aminomethylation formaldehyde cresol red iiminodiuksusnoy acid in acetic acid.
Mainly used as the metallochromic indicator (color change from red to yellow) for the direct determination of complexometric zinc ion, calcium, cadmium, copper (II), iron (III), manganese (II)), nickel (II), lead (II) and some rare earth elements; reverse titration - ions thorium, bismuth, thallium, zinc; as a reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of some metals - niobium, zirconium, gallium; as an acid-base indicator (color change in the range of pH 5,4-7,4 from yellow to red-violet.
